Accountant Ends Successful Year of Office
A partner at Bradford chartered accountants Watson Buckle will carry out the final duty of his year as president of the city branch of a leading accountancy body this week.
David Warren will chair the annual general meeting of Bradford’s Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) at the Bradford Club on Thursday (May 15). The event will set the seal on a successful year in the role for David, who was also president of the West Yorkshire ICAEW association three years ago.
The ICAEW is the largest professional accountancy body in Europe. The Bradford branch alone has almost 850 members and across West Yorkshire there are more than 5,000.
Highlights of David’s year include Bradford ICAEW’s annual charity dinner, held this year on 4 April at the city’s Cedar Court Hotel. He said: “I was delighted that the event raised a very impressive £3,246. The money went to the 2007-08 Lord Mayor’s Appeal, which supported the city charities Bradford Cancer Support Daisy Appeal and the Ear Trust Listening for Life Appeal.”
An important part of David’s presidential year has been continuing to strengthen links with other city professional groups, including architects, estate agents, the insurance industry, the legal profession and surveyors.
David added: “We were also delighted that Bradford City Council’s chief executive Tony Reeves addressed one of our meetings, giving us an update on various city regeneration projects. We were pleased to see his confidence in the way Bradford is moving forward and welcomed another valuable relationship-building opportunity.”
