Accountant to go on the run for charity
An audit senior at Bradford-based chartered accountants Watson Buckle will be putting her best foot forward when she takes part in this year’s Great North Run in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on Sunday, September 20. Gillian Corcoran, 28, from Leeds, is set to compete in the world’s biggest half-marathon for the first time in aid of mental health charity MIND, and has been hard at work training for the event. Gillian said: “This is my first time taking part since I did the junior race when I was at school – I thought it would be a good opportunity to get fit and have a goal to work towards at the same time as raising money for charity. |

“I started going to the gym and running more in the spring, and have gradually increased the distances I am running to prepare me for the race itself.”
Gillian will be running with two friends and has already secured sponsorship from many of her colleagues at Watson Buckle, as well as a donation from the company itself.
She added: “I’ve got a relative with Down’s Syndrome so I see the problems that people with mental health issues have and they help they need. It’s not one of the biggest-name charities at such events, so it’s good to be able to support someone different but also someone who’s work is close to my heart.”
Watson Buckle staff are no strangers to fundraising and have between them raised over £10,000 during the past year for causes including Jeans for Genes, Manorlands Hospice, Marie Curie Cancer Care, CRY and the NSPCC.
