30 Not out for accountancy firm duo
Two employees at Bradford-based chartered accountants Watson Buckle are celebrating 30 years with the firm this year.
Senior audit clerks Julie Todhunter and Ian Wilson both joined the company as junior clerks in 1979 and have remained there ever since.
Both highlighted the friendly working atmosphere and the variety in the work as the main reason for them staying with the company for so many years.
Julie said: “It’s a very friendly company to work for, both the staff and the partners. When I got married everyone from Watson Buckle was there – that’s the kind of company it is.
“We have a great range of clients with turnovers ranging from £250,000 to £15million and a big variety of different businesses – every day brings something different.”
And while Watson Buckle has remained true to its Yorkshire roots over the years, concentrating on providing a reliable local service, it has moved with the times, with the changes in technology the most noticeable difference.
Ian said: “The use of computers and spreadsheets is the most significant change – when I started we didn’t even have calculators but things have moved on quickly since then.
“The best thing about this company is the variety and range of work I can get involved in, which is why I’m still happy to be working here.”
Partner Susan Sedgwick added: “Julie and Ian are both valued members of our team and have contributed greatly to the success of Watson Buckle over the last 30 years.
“We’re very glad to have them with us and are delighted they have reached this milestone.”
