New managing partner for Bradford accountancy firm

A long-serving Bradford accountant, who was once believed to be the first female accountancy partner in the city, has completed her rise by becoming the new managing partner at city firm Watson Buckle.

Susan Sedgwick, who will be responsible for the day-to-day management and strategic development of the practice, joined Watson Buckle in 1980 and became a partner in 1987.

She is best-known in the local business community for her work with housing associations, not-for-profit organisations, printing businesses and subsidiaries of overseas holding companies. She also has a large portfolio of audit clients, who she will continue to work with in her new role.

She said that, while she had seen many changes in the industry over the past 30 years, Watson Buckle had proved the perfect company for her to build her career, culminating in her elevation to the top role.

She added: “It’s a very friendly firm, with a great bunch of people working here and a superb portfolio of clients.

“I enjoy working with the smaller, owner-managed businesses we specialise in and I’ve been very fortunate to build such good relationships with so many of them, who I’ll continue to work with in my new role.

“Taking over the management of this firm is a big challenge, but a very exciting one, and one which I’m looking forward to.”

Watson Buckle has experienced steady growth throughout Susan’s time at the firm, becoming one of the most respected practices in the area and retraining strong local links while at the same time offering its clients access to the international expertise which comes from being part of the global MGI association.
